Locals believe that these monkeys act as guardians of the temple from bad influences. The path to the temple is winding with concrete walls along the cliffside. Kecak Dance is a traditional dance that is very beautiful because it involves a group of dancers who act with fire. The uniqueness of Kecak dance lies in the use of the mouth as a substitute for gamelan sounds (not using traditional musical instruments). The dancers will form a harmonious choir accompanied by beautiful dance movements. It is because of this uniqueness that makes kecak one of the most distinctive performances. This performance depicts a fragment of the Ramayana (Hindu epic) which is expressed in the form of a work of art.
