History Name Jimbaran
The name Jimbaran has a unique history that dates back to the Klungkung kingdom. The name comes from a story about a king named Ida Dewa Agung of the kingdom, who had two wives named Sri Ratu Dalem and Sri Ratu Dalem Putih. Sri Ratu Dalem had no sons, while Sri Ratu Dalem Putih had two sons named Dalem Putih and Dalem Ireng. When Dalem Ireng grew up, the king began to show his dislike for the second wife and her two sons. Finally, the second wife was expelled along with her two sons, and while carrying the two children and moving around, the mother finally felt overwhelmed. Her mother left Dalem Putih in the forest, and he was then cared for by a powerful hermit after he was found. As time went by, Dalem Putih grew up. However, one day, the powerful hermit who took care of him passed away. Dalem Putih felt very sad because no one could take care of him anymore. He decided to look for his brother, who had been brought by his mother. The journey took him to Uluwatu, where he met Dalem Ireng without realizing that it was his brother. Disputes and arguments occur due to misunderstandings, but eventually they realize the truth that they are brothers. Dalem Ireng chose to become a wanderer, while Dalem Putih chose to explore the medical knowledge he had gained from a powerful hermit in Uluwatu. To the north of Uluwatu, Dalem Putih decided to open up a vast new forest. Due to its large size, the area was then named “Jimbaran” from the word “jimbar,” which means vast, describing the greatness of the area.
