Uluwatu Temple is one of Bali’s Hindu temples that stands majestically on a steep rock cliff, with ravines on both sides. Right in front of Uluwatu Temple, you can see a small forest inhabited by a group of monkeys for their residence and it is believed that the monkeys guard the temple from bad influences. The path that we will take to reach Uluwatu temple is winding with concrete walls that fortify each side of the cliff. The wall allows visitors to enjoy the surrounding scenery along the way. It will take about 1 hour to walk from one end to the other and there are a few corners that we can use to rest temporarily because they are fenced along the way. The view from Uluwatu Temple that you can see is the waves hitting the rocks and the expanse of blue sea that is very amazing. Uluwatu Temple has a very strategic and stunning location because it is located at the end of a peninsula with a deep ocean below.
Kecak Dance is a traditional dance performed by a group of male dancers by performing a dance accompanied by fire games. This performance is one of the attractions that you will see after visiting Uluwatu Temple. Kecak dance has a uniqueness that you can see from the musical accompaniment. This dance does not use gamelan instruments as usual, but this dance only uses the sound of the dancers’ mouths that will form a vocal harmony. The dancers produce a unison choir which is also accompanied by beautiful and dynamic dance movements. This performance tells a part of the Ramayana story (Hindu epic) that is brought to life in various art forms.
